Pre- and Post-Nuptial Agreement Services by Nanovic Law Offices

Couples often use prenuptial agreements to manage their finances through marriage. A prenuptial agreement will put all the cards on the table and spell out how matters will be resolved should there be a separation of the parties. We can assist in drafting a Prenuptial or Postnuptial Agreement that is in the best interest of both parties.

Postnuptial Agreements are like prenuptial agreements, except they occur after a couple speaks their vows. Parties can enter into a postnuptial agreement detailing the allocation of created assets, debts, and expenses should the parties separate or divorce. This division of property and assets is often one of the most troublesome aspects of separation and divorce.

Pennsylvania follows the equitable distribution rule, meaning the court divides assets fairly but not equally. Our attorneys at Nanovic Law Offices will work closely with you to properly account for your property, finances, and debts. Call today to schedule a consultation.

Separation of Couples, Family Members, and Protection from Abuse

Married couples may disagree and separate multiple times during their marriage. However, in extreme cases involving abuse of the spouse or other family members, they may seek legal protection from the court. A Petition for Protection from Abuse (PFA) requests relief from abuse by a family member, or significant other. A Judge may issue a PFA Order, a form of restraining order, which prevents the alleged abuser from having any contact with the petitioner.

The law is specific as to what constitutes abuse under the statue. The protection from abuse process is a two-step process. Initially, an individual will seek a PFA Order and will present themselves to a District Justice (over the weekend) or a Judge of the Court of Common Pleas. After the Judge makes the initial determination, a hearing will be set within ten (10) days, at which time both parties present their case. Our office can help you through this process.
